I'm Cheryl Warren. I am an author and researcher based in regional Victoria, where I live with my husband and our dogs.

I've been reading true crime for over forty years, and I'm still fascinated by it. The science of solving crimes - advanced forensics, DNA analysis, digital evidence - is extraordinary to me, and it never stops evolving. But what has kept me hooked for so many years is the human psychology: what drives apparently ordinary people to commit extraordinary crimes? That intersection of science and human behaviour is where all of my work begins.

I'm drawn to cases where the facts are complex, the people are real, and the truth matters. Stories that unfolded slowly, that resisted easy explanation, and that left communities searching for clarity long after the verdict. My research process is grounded in court documents, judgements, forensic records, interviews and verified contemporaneous reporting. I don't speculate where the record is silent, and I don't sensationalise where the facts are already devastating enough.

I'm currently working on my second book.
